Although the protocol itself doesn't discriminate, the reality is that the poor simply don't care about bitcoin. Ironically, the unit of account is the satoshi. 100,000,000 satoshis make "one coin". The masses will realize this as soon as "one coin" will out of their reach forever. Then it's 10,000,000 sats. Then it's 1,000,000 sats. However, half of the people walking this earth now have less than $1,000 in savings. The true stats are probably way worse for the bottom of the pyramid. They'll need a miracle to notice bitcoin in the current environment and this is going to get trickier and trickier in the future. It is very unlikely to save them, don't sweat too much on this. They'll have to save themselves, gradually and only by meritocracy. The smart ones will ask the right questions in good faith. As for the rest, may God bless their hearts and minds to stop giving a fuck about the current thing for it is a trap. You don't get to vote for kings. Definitely not in a system where 1 man = 1 vote.
